Once upon a time there was a thirteen year old boy from Oregon whomade clandestine wine in a five-gallon bucket with a neighbor woman.Word has it that this sparked a certain passion in winemaking for acertain winemaker-to-be. Now, VocationVacations® holidays would nevername names….but….fast-forward ten years….
A certain collegestudent became a winery intern. The intern became Cellar Master. TheCellar Master turned Assistant Wine Maker. The Assistant Wine Maker waspromoted to Wine Maker. Quite the path
Eola Hills Winery’s
Wine Maker, Steve Anderson, had in a relatively “short” period of time. Or had it really started many years earlier? Hmmmm.
Stevebelieves anyone can take a similar path in the world of wine makingwithout necessarily going back to school (or making it in a five-gallonbucket) if they have passion and are willing to soak up the workingknowledge along the way. Steve’s point about winemaking is that it’snot about just having a degree – it’s about understanding winemaking asboth art and science. And the root of it all is passion for grapes andwine! Steve says he may not get rich being a wine maker – but he’s richin life fulfillment by loving what he does each and every day.
EolaHills is an award-winning winery set right in the middle of thebeautiful Willamette Valley. The winery itself is in the small town ofRickreall, Oregon.
