Hilton HHonors® Points - 560,000

Are you a problem solver with a creative flair? Does your good taste for home interior design need an outlet beyond remodeling your kitchen? Are you a good listener who can relate to all types of people? If your answers were “yes,” it may be time to cast your eye for color toward a career as an interior designer. A VocationVacation® with Lynn Wyndham Morris, owner of Entirely Design in Encinitas, California, will give you a blueprint of what it takes to be a successful interior designer from both the creative and practical side of the business.

With an MBA in finance and management, Lynn built a successful career as a management consultant in New York City. She was passionate about giving people tools to improve their lives. When a job move took her to California, she decided it was a good time to take her own advice and figure out what would make her life better. For years, Lynn had enjoyed helping friends with their decorating/design projects. She didn’t just have a great eye for what looked good, but she really related to what her friends wanted and needed. Excited about bringing together her business and creative skills, Lynn decided to take a step back from the corporate world and a step forward into the world of interior design.

Lynn opened Entirely Design in 1998 and began searching for ways to grow her skills and her business. She became involved with the American Society of Interior Design. Through this organization, she soon met a seasoned interior designer who recognized Lynn’s innate talent. “She was a great mentor and encouraged me to enhance my skills and build my credentials by enrolling in classes that are accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER),” says Lynn.

Lynn took her advice. She has incorporated the knowledge and skills learned through this program with her natural design talent and her continuing desire to make a difference in people’s lives, and built a successful interior design business with a loyal client base. “I am not just a ‘pretty pillow lady’ who comes in and says that grandfather clock needs to go or that color of paint is all wrong,” explains Lynn. Instead, she listens to what her clients are really saying so she can understand the emotional and practical needs of the project
At Entirely Design, clients can choose from a wide variety of services designed to meet the technical, creative, and practical requirements of each project. Lynn has an in-depth knowledge of building codes, universal design and other architectural guidelines and requirements. From blueprints, to project execution, to “design-in-a-day,” Lynn brings four elements of design to each project insuring the end results are always: aesthetically pleasing, functional, safe, and sustainable. “One of the best parts about my job is to run into a client years after a project was completed and have them tell me how much they still love the work I did for them,” says Lynn.

Lynn is well regarded in the interior design industry. She has received a number of awards for leadership and excellence from the American Society of Interior Design and has been featured on HGTV, in Better Homes and Gardens, the San Diego Union Tribune, California Home, and a number of other publications.

So what are some of the most important things Lynn has learned over the nine years in the business? “You have to continue to learn and stay on top of what is new in the industry; you need to recognize that the interior design industry is like any other business and has its share of “interesting” clients; and you need to always, always sweat the details…selecting a refrigerator that won’t fit through the doorway will truly ruin your day,” laughs Lynn.

Spend a VocationVacation® with Lynn and she will share with you the creative, technical, practical and psychological sides of the interior design business. Don’t expect an “Extreme Makeover” or “Design on a Dime” experience. Instead, you will gain a realistic perspective of what it takes to deliver a quality product that makes you proud and your clients happy.
