Do you want to be a Fly Fishing Guide?

Is your garage packed to the gills with fishing equipment? Do you spend every spare moment tying flies that will entice even the pickiest trout? If you have often thought that you would rather spend your days being a fly-fishing outfitter, then you need to test-drive your dream job with the team at South Platte Anglers in Hartsel, Colorado!

Michael “Griz” Egloff and his son, Kevin, have been hunting and fishing in South Park County, Colorado their whole lives. They consider themselves fortunate to live their life-long dreams - spending their days helping guests learn the art of fly fishing and helping them become better fishermen (and women). “Griz” knows every inch of the South Platte River between Spinney Mountain Reservoir and Eleven Mile Canyon reservoir. Kevin lives in Colorado Springs with his wife and daughter and although he still works a “day job” as a General Manager for a national restaurant chain, he subscribes to the Vocationing lifestyle and has the flexibility to arrange his “day job” schedule so he can assist Griz with large fishing groups throughout the year.

Working with Griz and Kevin is Rick Bersnak. After surviving a near-fatal heart-attack some years ago, Rick realized that there was more to life than solely doing a “day job” in the insurance industry and now subscribes to the Vocationing lifestyle too. He lives in Ohio but spends as much time as possible during the peak season with Griz and Kevin in Hartsel. Rick works on marketing and business development throughout the US for South Platte Anglers and also owns and operates his own company, DeadDrift Marketers, which sells fly rods, nets and hats to shops and other outfitters. Rick constantly looks for ways to infuse his great passion for fishing into each day of work!

The team at South Platte Anglers is ready to share their knowledge and skills with you on your very own dream job VocationVacations experience. From start-up, to equipment and customer service…you will get to see the fishing outfitting business from the inside out!

While on your Fly Fishing Outfitter VocationVacations® holiday Griz, Kevin and Rick will mentor you in some or all of the following activities:

  • Prepare the equipment for the guests each day
  • Prepare the boats and other equipment
  • Prepare food and beverages for each day’s trip
