Do you want to be a Dude Rancher?

Would you like to exchange your routine office “hellos” with an exuberant “HOWDY, Partner”? Ready to trade-in your business attire, briefcase and busy work schedule for a job where you get to ride horses, rustle cattle and do ranch chores?

Well, stop sittin’ on the fence! Come learn about owning and running your very own Dude/Guest Ranch with VocationVacations and owner Dick Bloomfeldt of Long Hollow Ranch in Sisters, Oregon!

Growing up, Dick thought he’d become a veterinarian. But he ended up working in management in the paper industry for 39 years instead. He never gave up on his long-term dreams of working with animals, however. So he and a few friends bought Long Hollow Ranch in 1984 to satisfy his “inner rancher.” For years, they ran it as a cattle ranch while still working their day jobs. But after Dick retired from the paper industry in 1999, he took the bull by the horns and decided to really combine his work life and hobbies into one! Long Hollow Ranch was remodeled and shortly afterwards opened its doors as a guest ranch. Dick was able to live and work the lifestyle of his dreams – and hasn’t looked back.

Long Hollow Ranch is in Sisters, Oregon, a historic town with a Wild West flavor. Founded in 1902, it was headquarters for The Black Butte Land and Livestock Company. Today, Long Hollow is a wonderful, family-friendly place offering an authentic working ranch experience. Besides cattle drives and horseback rides, guests are encouraged to help out on the farm, moving irrigation, feeding cattle, and fixing fences! Whitewater rafting and fly fishing adventures are available, along with hiking/rock climbing, golfing and shopping excursions. Guests enjoy delicious home cooked meals (using fresh fruit/produce grown on-site in gardens, a greenhouse and orchard), stunning panoramic mountain views and sincere down-home hospitality.

So get ready to “roll up your sleeves” and test-drive your dream job as a Dude/Guest Ranch Owner!
