Do you want to become an Animator?

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” - Dr. Suess.

Do you find yourself looking at the world through child-like eyes? Are your mind and outlook on life fueled by imagination, creativity and inspiration? Do you still remember your childhood dreams brought to life through the world of animation? Are you fascinated by the technical, creative and productive capabilities needed in developing animated features and short films? Then a dream-job VocationVacation with Little Airplane Productions, Inc. maybe just what you are looking for to help you experience your dream as an animator and digital designer!

Josh Selig founded Little Airplane Productions with the simple goal of creating the most innovative preschool television programming in the world. The company is known for creating and producing Nick Jr.’s The Wonder Pets! as well as working on Noggin’s Oobi! winner of a 2001 Gold Parents’ Choice Award, Go Baby! on Playhouse Disney as well as work on Piper O’Possum, and many short films for Sesame Street and Playhouse Disney.

“We are combining animation with creating-with-purpose - and we are making a difference,” says Tone Thyne, who is the Supervising Producer of Little Airplane Productions’ The Wonder Pets! A graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Tone has worked in animation production since 1991 - eleven years of which were with Walt Disney Feature Animation, assisting and producing such works as Atlantis Lost Empire, Fantasia 2000, Tarzan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

In addition to the roll of Supervising Producer for the The Wonder Pets!, Tone has also produced Piper O’Possum, Go Baby! and the animated Son of Man segment in Disney’s Broadway production of Tarzan, since arriving at Little Airplane Productions. He has also produced several animated projects for New York’s Curious Pictures and has worked with high-profile clients such as VH-1, Mattel, Nickelodeon and PBS’ Sesame Street.

Tone will act as your “point man” in matching you with mentors within all the fascinating fields Little Airplane Productions has to offer, from Script Writing, Storyboards, Design, Animation, Music to the finalization process. At Little Airplane Productions, you will be surrounded by a wealth of incredible talent - artists who are reaching out and using their talents to influence others in a positive and fun way!

“Little Airplane Productions is committed to celebrating young children and treating them and their world with dignity. We consider it both a great privilege and a great responsibility to represent and serve such a distinguished audience. This is our mission statement and we live by it,” explains Tone. “We want to touch people and do something with a purpose. We feel we do that here. In kids TV, our goal is to do it well and be most effective by using art - where kids and adults can both be affected.”

Not only will you learn about the animation process, but you will also take away the deeper importance of what is involved in producing animated programming.

”The core of what Little Airplane Productions is all about”, explains Tone, “is to be in touch with what’s important in your life and passing it on, to have fun, but be responsible.”

Oprah needs to know about VocationVacations. I had such a good time, and most importantly, Tone, Josh and the team at Little Airplane Productions gave me the assurance that I am making the right decision to reinvent myself. Yes, it is a risky move for me and my family, but I have to try. I have such ‘fire in my belly’, it has to happen.”
