Do you want to be a Comedian?

Do you love the limelight? Does making people laugh make you feel all warm and fuzzy? If so, get ready to test-drive your dream job as a Comedian with Linda Smith in the Big Apple! She’ll teach you the ropes while giving you many a side-ache from incessant laughter.

Linda found comedy at a young age. In her early twenties, Linda started her comedy career in Boston while she was working in central purchasing for Harvard Medical School. Meanwhile, in New York City, a comedy club called Catch a Rising Star was discovering talent. Shortly after, Catch a Rising Star opened a new club in Cambridge and Linda jumped at the chance to get up on stage. Within six months, Linda was the top female comedian. One night a representative from the New York club saw her show and told her, “You gotta move to New York!” She did - and the rest is history.

Linda loves many things about her job, but some of the things that top her list are the hours, the independence and the fun. Linda jokes, “You get to sleep in” as a comedian, since you only really work nights. “You are your own boss,” says Linda, affording her many freedoms that others do not get. And finally, who doesn’t love making people laugh? Linda loves getting up in front of people and putting them in hysterics. She says, “I don’t think you could do this job well if you didn’t love it.” Comedy is a true art form, where you control your destiny, which can be a bit daunting at times but for the most part, and exhilarating challenge.

Linda has written for many popular television shows, including the Rosie O’Donnell Show. Linda has also been featured on Conan O’Brien, BBC, VH1 and HBO’s Women of Comedy. Recently, Linda began teaching her craft to all kinds of people, from CEO’s to budding comedians. Teaching has granted Linda with one of the most satisfying feelings when she gets to see her students get onstage at Caroline’s Comedy Club on Broadway and perform in front of their first audience.

Having over twenty years in comedy, Linda has more experience in the business than most. If you want to learn from the best, Linda’s your gal. She knows her craft. In addition to your one-on-one mentorship with Linda, you’ll also get the chance to sit-in and participate in Linda’s comedy classes. And if that weren’t enough, after your VocationVacations you may get the rare opportunity to perform your own 4-5 minute set in front of a great audience at the famous Caroline’s Comedy Club in Times Square in New York!

***Due to Linda's travel/work schedule, we highly recommend you purchase travel insurance in the event Linda needs to reschedule.  VocationVacations nor Linda is responsible for a change in scheduling.

Here's what recent Vocationers have to say about their VocationVacation:

“The magic was being on stage - you are at risk, vulnerable, but what a memorable experience. My family was present to see me which was great since my VocationVacation was a gift from my wife.”
Lynn Marqui, Berwyn, PA

“It is satisfying to experience the creative aspect of myself in such a challenging way.  I did this for the challenge and the fun. I may consider doing some more standup comedy, but just as a hobby. It’s great to know I can incorporate more humor into my life and work.”
Ed Prevatte, Flagler Beach, FL
