Then get ready to discover the life of being an RV Campground Owner on this incredible VocationVacations holiday – in the beautiful hills of Connecticut.
Nestled in the scenic Litchfield Hills, Hemlock Hill Camp Resort is a true camping experience. Located just one-and-one-half hours from New York City, you will find meandering brooks and fresh country air that beckons you back to nature and the peace and serenity that give your soul room to soar.
Join Mary and Jerry Hughes, owners of this 140-site campsite facility, who left behind a hectic lifestyle in “Corporate America” to fulfill their passion of owning an RV campground.
Your RV Campground Owner VocationVacations® dream job holiday activities will include some or all of the following:
Friday Afternoon:
- Tour camp property including “behind the scenes” operations
- Review campground’s public utilities (Water, Electric, etc)
- Learn the differences between overnight, transient, and destination campgrounds - how this affects your potential business plan
- Discuss pros & cons of co-op (selling individual) campsites
- Work with maintenance staff to get campsites ready for incoming guests
- Learn what is involved in building a campsite and campground expansion
- Welcome new arrivals using check-in & front-desk procedures
- Use reservations software & front desk computer to make reservations
- Assist Activity Director with Friday night activity program
Saturday:
- Assist with camp store operations and learn about vendors specializing in campground merchandise
- Work with camp management on day-to-day operations while learning about camp profit-centers (store, laundry, programs, arcade, firewood, food services, RV maintenance & repairs, after-market items, RV storage, etc)
- Assist maintenance staff with Swimming Pool/Hot Tub care while learning about safety and health department regulatory issues
- Lunch with camp staff for Q&A session
- Assist Activity Director with Saturday evening program
- Wrap up the evening with Mary and/or Jerry Hughes on an evening stroll of the campgrounds – great opportunity to meet campers face-to-face and learn what they are looking for in a campground
Sunday:
- Work with Camp Staff in day-to-day operations
- Learn how to increase camper nights using a successful activity program
- Discuss industry trends and the importance of camp promotion through advertising, travel bureau, and website
- Lunch with Mary & Jerry for Q&A on topics of specific interest to you (i.e. how to find campgrounds for sale, financing your dream, staffing concerns, operating budget, zoning, industry training, trade organizations, etc.)
The RV Campground Owner VocationVacations® holiday includes:
- Three days (Friday 12pm thru Sunday 2pm) of one-on-one mentorship in your dream job
- The ability to take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®), an online personality assessment designed to identify interests and skill sets
- The opportunity to participate in a total of one hour of pre- and post-VocationVacation career coaching from an accredited, affiliated VocationVacations career coach
- A pocket-size VocationVacations journal so you can document your dream job becoming a reality
- Light lunches with your mentor
Available: Friday – Sunday; Mid-April through Mid October, based on Mentors' availability with exception of holiday weekends

Reservation, Cancellation and Rescheduling Rules and Conditions:
Full payment of the VocationVacations dream job holiday is required to make a reservation. A $100 non-refundable fee is assessed if a VocationVacations experience is cancelled or rescheduled prior to 14-days of the scheduled VocationVacations holiday, based on the approved availability of the mentor to reschedule. A VocationVacations adventure cannot be rescheduled and is non-refundable if cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled VocationVacations holiday. Written notification of cancellation or rescheduling is required in all cases. In the US, Grounded Nomads, LLC and VocationVacations holidays encourage all customers to acquire travel insurance to cover any unforeseen expenses due to cancellation or rescheduling. In the UK, Grounded Nomads, Ltd and VocationVacations holidays must require all customers to acquire travel insurance to cover any unforeseen expenses due to cancellation or rescheduling and provide verification of such travel insurance to Grounded Nomads, Ltd.
