Do you want to be a Make-Up Artist? Do you get lost on the first floor of department stores trying on all the latest facial, skin and make-up products? You’d love a make-over, right? Or better yet, you’d love to be the one giving someone a glamorous new look, yes? Perhaps what you’d really love is a career make-over! Well, what if you could combine your desire to work with make-up with your own career make-over? Now you can! Meet your VocationVacations Mentor - Celebrity Makeup Artist, Glenda Facemire (yes, this is her REAL last name...perfect for the business!). Glenda has been working in professional film, television, video and print for more than a quarter century. Her list of famous faces reads like a Who’s Who of music, Hollywood and politics, including Lyle Lovett, Loretta Lynn, Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard, Bonnie Raitt, The Dave Matthews Band, Cold Play, Joss Stone, Norah Jones, B. B. King, Willie Nelson, Harry Connick Jr., Julia Child, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tommy Lee, Lady Bird Johnson….and George and Laura Bush. The diverse list goes on and on! If you are a music fan, you will agree that Glenda has the coolest makeup artist position in the world –she is the Staff Head Makeup Artist with the renowned PBS music show Austin City Limits. The show itself has a record breaking thirty-one years of memorable music history. Glenda has been making-up musical artists for Austin City Limits for 17 of those 31 years, which she is proud to say so far includes almost over 350 shows! Glenda’s position has given her the opportunity to be one-on-one and face-to-face with the best of America’s music from Country, Blues, Folk, Rock-n-Roll, Jazz, and Bluegrass. Along with her Austin City Limits credit-of-works, Glenda brings diverse experience with National & International Film and Video companies. In brief, her makeup assignments have included the BBC, BET, American Idol, Access Hollywood, Ambush Makeover, Good Morning America, The Food Channel, Nightline, E-Entertainment, MTV-Austin Real World - just to name a few. A recent 2005 project included Texas Monthly Magazine with Lance Armstrong for their cover shot. Glenda is a Long Island, New Yorker by birth. She moved to Miami Beach, then on to Atlanta and ultimately landed in Austin, Texas 24 years ago. In the process, she studied both art and acting and even joined the Screen Actors’ Guild. She finally realized her true "niche” - combine her two passions of art and theatre into one vocation - professional make-up artistry! In addition to working with celebrities, she also loves to work with actors, models and corporate professionals in private, one-on-one make-up lessons and instruction.
