Well now’s your chance to really let your life go to the dogs! “Top Dogs” Dawn and Dick Walton want to share their passion of being Dog Daycare Owners with you at Dog Zone Daycare.
Dawn and Dick have a unique perspective on opening and operating a dog daycare. Before they opened the first Dog Zone, there were no other "dedicated" dog daycares in all of Iowa! They were integral in working with the state to create new legislation to allow dog daycares to operate. They also worked with local officials to formulate new standards regarding building codes, zoning and engineering. The Waltons are ready to share their “inside information” to get you on the right path toward your dream job in your hometown!
Dawn and Dick are true dog lovers. Both have been involved with guide dogs for the blind for over eight years as “puppy walkers”. They are responsible for raising, socializing and training puppies that will spend their lives as seeing-eye dogs. Dawn has also worked with various pet-therapy programs within the state of Iowa, including those within correctional operations.
While Vocationing at Dog Zone Doggy Daycare, the Waltons will mentor you in the following activities:
- Assist in bringing new dogs into the group
- Evaluate a dog for temperament/group matching
- Work with a large group of dogs
- Assist in exiting dogs from group
- Sanitation and safety in a dog daycare
- Monitor play for appropriate behaviors
- Practice pack management techniques
- Review staff training materials
- Learn how to schedule breeds/sizes of dogs and daily structure
- Gain an understanding of start-up, customer relations and marketing
The Dog Daycare VocationVacations® adventure includes:
- One day of one-on-one mentorship in your dream job
- The opportunity to participate in a total of one hour of pre- and post-VocationVacation career coaching from an accredited, affiliated VocationVacations career coach
- A pocket-size VocationVacations journal so you can document your dream job becoming a reality
- Light lunches with your mentor

Reservation, Cancellation and Rescheduling Rules and Conditions:
Full payment of the VocationVacations dream job holiday is required to make a reservation. A $100 non-refundable fee is assessed if a VocationVacations experience is cancelled or rescheduled prior to 14-days of the scheduled VocationVacations holiday, based on the approved availability of the mentor to reschedule. A VocationVacations adventure cannot be rescheduled and is non-refundable if cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled VocationVacations holiday. Written notification of cancellation or rescheduling is required in all cases. In the US, Grounded Nomads, LLC and VocationVacations holidays encourage all customers to acquire travel insurance to cover any unforeseen expenses due to cancellation or rescheduling. In the UK, Grounded Nomads, Ltd and VocationVacations holidays must require all customers to acquire travel insurance to cover any unforeseen expenses due to cancellation or rescheduling and provide verification of such travel insurance to Grounded Nomads, Ltd. |
