Do you easily find humor in any situation? Does the sound of riotous laughter seem to follow you – even at work? Is it your passion to make everyone around you giggle? Then come join comedian Daniel Nainan for two days on your very own Comedian VocationVacation and put your comic skills to the test! Daniel took a rather unusual road to the comedy club stage. His life was predominantly centered on computers during his adolescent and young-adult years. He worked at Intel during the boom of the technology sector in Silicon Valley in the 90’s. Daniel got his first taste of the stage helping Intel executives demonstrate new products and technology, but his fear of public speaking made these demos rather stressful. In hopes of curbing his phobia, and at the urging of his father, Daniel decided to take a stand-up comedy class. A colleague at Intel saw his performance on tape and asked him to perform at a large company event. Daniel, quite skilled at impersonations, imitated Intel CEO Andrew Grove and his thick Hungarian accent, much to the delight of his coworkers. That performance led to more and before he knew it, Daniel was performing regularly at many of Intel’s corporate events. When Daniel was offered a job transfer within the company to New York City, he jumped at the chance, knowing that to make it as a comic, he needed to be in New York or L.A. The move was a smart one, and in 2001 he quit his job and devoted himself full-time to a life of laughter. Daniel now tours the country with famous comics such as Robert Schimmel and Russell Peters. Daniel says it’s his clean jokes that set him apart from other comics. His philosophy is that he doesn’t want to perform any jokes that he can’t tell in front of his parents. One other aspect of Daniel’s career that sets him apart from his colleagues is that he serves as his own manager and agent. He knows all of the ins and outs of the business side of being a comic, not just the glitz and glamour. Daniel’s transformation from corporate techie to stand-up comedian really exudes the spirit behind the Vocationing dream-job lifestyle. His know-how, first-hand experience and mentorship will help anyone aching to climb up on stage and crack a few jokes….while teaching the first steps of how to make a living doing it!
