Sally Mohr, proud co-owner of Boulder Wine Merchant, turned her passion for wine into a career. After trying her hand in the corporate world, Sally decided it was not the path for her. So, in 1983, she became an employee at the Boulder Wine Merchant. In 1986 she realized her dream-job. Sally became co-owner and has been working in her vocation of choice ever since. In 1995, Sally became the second woman in the United States to receive the title Master Sommelier, a very high distinction in the world of wine. Today, in addition to running Boulder Wine Merchant, Sally assists several Boulder restaurants with their wine selections and staff training. She is also a beverage columnist and shares her enthusiasm for wine with the public through tastings, seminars and festivals.
One of the most exciting aspects of Sally’s job is finding exciting new wines. Her curiosity and yearning to always learn enables her the opportunity to taste wines from the farthest reaches of the world. She notes, “grapes are being grown in obscure places around the world, each different and unique.” Sally and her passionate staff are always in search of the latest new label or especially great vintage or varietal - the one you won’t find on your local liquor or grocery store shelf.

During your VocationVacations® dream job holiday, Sally Mohr will lead you through some or all of the following Wine Retailer and Sommelier related activities:
- Experience blind tasting and evaluation techniques
- Taste and analyze wine like a Master Sommelier
- Learn the ins and outs of specialty wine retail vs. traditional liquor store
- Analyze wine quality, what sells, what doesn’t sell and why, customer trends, etc.
- Discover the tricks of the trade with wine and food pairings
Your Wine Retailer and Sommelier VocationVacations® dream job holiday includes:
- Two days of one-on-one mentorship in your dream job as a Wine Retailer and Sommelier
- The ability to take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®), an online personality assessment designed to identify interests and skill sets
- The opportunity to participate in a total of one hour of pre- and post-VocationVacation career coaching from an accredited, affiliated VocationVacations career coach
- A pocket-size VocationVacations journal so you can document your dream job becoming a reality
- Light lunches with your mentor

Full payment of the VocationVacations dream job holiday is required to make a reservation. A $100 non-refundable fee is assessed if a VocationVacations experience is cancelled or rescheduled prior to 14-days of the scheduled VocationVacations holiday, based on the approved availability of the mentor to reschedule. A VocationVacations adventure cannot be rescheduled and is non-refundable if cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled VocationVacations holiday. Written notification of cancellation or rescheduling is required in all cases. In the US, Grounded Nomads, LLC and VocationVacations holidays encourage all customers to acquire travel insurance to cover any unforeseen expenses due to cancellation or rescheduling. In the UK, Grounded Nomads, Ltd and VocationVacations holidays must require all customers to acquire travel insurance to cover any unforeseen expenses due to cancellation or rescheduling and provide verification of such travel insurance to Grounded Nomads, Ltd. |
