Bob Rees grew up loving the outdoors, especially when he was fishing with his two grandfathers. A native Oregonian, his first job was working for the state Department of Fish & Wildlife after earning his degree in Fisheries Technology. He felt the tug of the fishing line when a friend in Alaska offered him a job as a lodge guide. Five years later, he bought his own fishing guide business back in Oregon.

For the last ten years, Bob has been busy living out his dream guiding clients through Oregon waters where a number of rivers offer world class fishing for salmon, sturgeon, and steelhead. His pleasant personality and expert approach make for a genuinely fun day out on the water. Full bookings in Oregon and Alaska are testimony to Bob’s reputation as a guide and a person. Additionally, Bob takes time to run a website newsletter for fishing guides and stays very involved as an activist in local conservation and fishing issues.

While on your Fishing Guide VocationVacations dream job holiday, Bob will lead you through the following guide-related tasks:

• Prepping rods
• Re-tying rods, hooks and other gear
• Fueling boat
• Helping customers land fish!
• Re-rigging rods after catch
• The business of operating a guide/outfitting service, covering areas such as: insurance, licensing, first aid certificates, costs of equipment, flies, tying flies (if time permits), repairing broken equipment if necessary, etc.
• Possibly participating in catching fish - only after (and if) the customers’ limit has been retained
• Assisting in boat clean-up, fish processing and prep for the following day
• Socializing after-hours with other guides

• Two days of one-on-one mentorship in your dream job as a Fishing Guide
• The ability to take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®), an online personality assessment designed to identify interests and skill sets
• The opportunity to participate in a total of one hour of pre- and post-VocationVacation career coaching from an accredited, affiliated VocationVacations career coach
