But, don’t worry; you don’t have to wear a silly hat to live out your dream job.  A cheese making hairnet, yes, but not a silly hat.  While working with the cheese experts at Beecher’s Cheese on a Cheese Maker VocationVacation, there is nothing quite like making a variety of amazing, award-winning cheeses in the heart of Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle.  When not making cheese you can stroll through the amazing market full of fresh seafood, produce and flowers. Beecher’s is in the heart of Seattle’s culinary Mecca!

Beecher’s owner, Kurt Dammeier, was not a Cheese Maker before opening Beecher’s (named after his grandfather, Beecher McKenzie). He simply always had passion for cheese….and now cheese is part of his every day!

Assistant cheese maker, Blain Hayes, and his team will mentor you in the fine craft of making the following Beecher award-winning cheeses from the milk that exclusively comes from Cherry Valley Farm in Duvall, Washington:

* Flagship - a semi-hard single herd cow's milk cheese with robust flavor and a creamy finish. Available in one and two year aged varieties
* Jack - a full cream slow cooked jack cheese. Full of flavor and available in white and flavored varieties
* Blank Slate - a soft, fresh, mild flavored cow's milk cheese. Ideally suited for mixing with your own favorite flavorings. Use as a topping, a spread or an ingredient.

Your Cheese Maker VocationVacations® dream job holiday activities will include some or all of the following:

• Heating the milk
• Adding culture to the milk
• Cooling down the milk
• Vat pasteurizing
• Adding rennet to milk
• Creating curds and whey
• Draining the whey
• Salting the curd
• Forming cheeses
• Coring aging cheeses
• Tasting YOUR very own cheese curds that you made!

The Cheese Maker VocationVacations® Dream Job Holiday includes:

• One day of one-on-one mentorship in your dream job as Cheese Maker
• The opportunity to participate in a total of one hour of pre- and post-VocationVacation career coaching from an accredited, affiliated VocationVacations career coach
• A pocket-size VocationVacations journal so you can document your dream job becoming a reality
• Light lunch with your mentor

Available: All year based on Cheese Maker’s schedule. Friday, Saturday and Monday
