Coach Maggie Mistal
Mission:
To help people believe in themselves and find a way to make a living doing work for which they have great talent and passion.
Bio:
As Director of Learning & Development for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Maggie coached and trained individuals in managing their careers, managing conflict and managing their departments. She also spent several years as a management consultant with Arthur Andersen Business Consulting where she worked with global organizations to establish and implement people development strategies.
Maggie presents at colleges, universities and networking groups on the subjects of finding your passion, setting goals and taking action with your career. Her articles have been featured in professional newsletters for the National Association for Female Executives and the Single Women's Alliance Network. She is also a volunteer for Streetwise Partners using her career coaching services to help the unemployed and under-employed.
Maggie is on the advisory board for the Association of Career Management Professionals. ACP is a global organization focused on providing life-long career services to help organizations and individuals leverage talent to achieve success.
With her spare time, she continues to paint in impressionist style and explore the place she calls home, Manhattan.
Interests:
I enjoy traveling and making new friends from different cultures. I have found people around the world to be generous and eager to tell others about their homes. I also like to paint and have a small collection of my own impressionist style landscapes - impressionism is perfect for me because I don't need to paint within the lines.
Favorite Saying:
Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Most Unique Opportunity:
Working at Martha Stewart was a very unique opportunity especially when I became the Career Coach for Martha Stewart Living Radio. I had been with the company for four years as head of Learning & Development and had coached and trained the employees on managing their careers. Interviewing Martha live on Career Talk with Maggie was also a tremendous experience. She was a fabulous guest and inspired listeners to figure out and follow their dreams.
Most Unique Adventure:
Sailing the Greek isles and living on a sailboat for a week after having been a land-lubber all my life. I was in Greece for a friend's wedding and had the chance to sail the Ionian Islands. The scenery was breathtaking and the entire trip changed my life. I learned to live the Greek way -siga, siga - slow down and enjoy life.
